Unsolved Homicides
We appreciate witnesses coming forward and providing statements. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will continue to investigate these and other homicides until the suspects are identified, caught, and the cases are brought to the appropriate prosecutor’s offices. John Owens Jr., B/M, 7/11/1986
On 10/25/2017 at 0807 hours Officers responded to Independence Ave. and
Elmwood on a reported shooting. The officers located the victim, John Owens Jr.,
on the street suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers were also able to locate
and stop a vehicle belonging to the victim which had a witness inside. The witness
was transported to HQ where she provided a statement.

Reyanna M. Fisher B/F 12/19/1992
Discovered: 10/20/2017, 1629 hours at 2402 E. 59th St.
On October 20, 2017 a relative arrived at Reyanna’s residence and discovered her
inside her house, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Melvin L. Blackmon B/M 12/05/1975
Occurred: 10/16/2017, 2209 hours at 8323 Lydia
On October 16, 2017 a resident heard the sound of shots and upon leaving his
residence he observed the victim lying on the side of the street. The victim was
found to have been shot multiple times.

Alejandro Castillo W/M, 30 YOA
On 09-18-2017 at approximately 1514 hours, officers of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department
were dispatched to 6823 Longview Rd, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri on a reported Robbery.
Enroute to the location, the call was updated to a shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered a victim
suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside the Boost Mobile Store at that location. The victim was
transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Marcell T. Smith, B/M, 3/10/1981
On 9-8-2017 at 1526 hours Officers were dispatched to the location on a shooting.
Upon arrival officers located the victim, Marcell T. Smith, in the street suffer from
a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased by EMS personnel.
Additional information regarding suspects is needed.

Kendrick D. Anderson, B/M, 9/6/1989
On 9-4-2017 at 0011 hours Officers responded to the area of 63rd and 71
Highway in regard to a reported injury vehicular. At the scene officers observed
the victim in the driver’s seat and appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was
taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Lester Davis, B/M, 11/16/1978
On 9-4-2017 at 2046 hours Officers were dispatched to 1300 E. 89th Street on
sounds of shots. At this location officer located the victim suffering from multiple
gunshot wounds. The victim was located in the grassy area between the street
and the sidewalk. Multiple shell casings were located around the victim. EMS
responded and declared the victim deceased. Witnesses advised they heard
multiple shots and report seeing unknown subjects flee the area.

Derell D. Simmons, B/M, 1/18/1988
On 8/31/2017 at 2112 hours Officers were dispatched to the location, 9805
Newton on shooting. Witnesses advised they heard shots, responded outside and
observed the victim to have been shot. Witnesses attempted to render aid to the
victim and he was transported to the hospital by private car. The victim was
declared deceased by hospital personnel on 9-2-2017

Victim: Keith Cole, B/M 09/25/72
Discovered: 08-20-2017, 11238 hours at Longview and Blue Ridge
On August 20, 2017 Keith Cole was walking down the street when the suspect ran
up behind him and opened fire on him. Cole was transported to an area hospital
where he succumbed to his injuries.

Victim: Roosevelt Cooper, B/M 02/16/1999
Discovered: 08-17-2017, 1442 hours at 3410 Troost
On August 17, 2017 Roosevelt Cooper was found shot inside his vehicle in a
parking lot off Troost.
