Unsolved Homicides
We appreciate witnesses coming forward and providing statements. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will continue to investigate these and other homicides until the suspects are identified, caught, and the cases are brought to the appropriate prosecutor’s offices. Mark D. Taylor B/M 11/26/1979
On 08/16/2012 at 2124 hours, the victim was in front of his residence talking on his cellular telephone
giving the party on the phone directions to his location. Information gained from witnesses stating the
victim was waving over a vehicle, apparently the subject he was speaking to on the phone. The
witnesses stated a dark color (4) door vehicle stopped in front of the victim’s location and the victim
approached the passenger side of the vehicle. The witnesses stated the victim was apparently having a
conversation with the suspects in the vehicle when shots were fired and the victim was hit.

Mickel A. Lane BM 8-18-83
On 8-8-2012, 2158 hours, Officers were called to the northwest corner of 23rd and Denver in regard to a
shooting. On arrival Mickel A. Lane, BM, 8-18-83 was found deceased having sustained gunshot
wound(s).

Terrail L. Myers B/M 7-16-85
On 07-28-2012, Officers were dispatched to 2066 E. 38th St. on a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, Terrail L. Myers was discovered outside of the residence, deceased from
apparent gunshot wounds.

Eugene M. Pettiford B/M 01/08/1971
On 07-17-2012 at approximately 2246 hours, officers were dispatched to 8621 E.
31st Street, in regard to a disturbance. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the
victim had been shot inside 8621 E. 31st Street. The victim was transported by
EMS to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Cesar Guzman W/M 11-26-1989
On 07/16/12, at approximately 0220 hours, Officers were dispatched to 1717
Hardesty in regards to a shooting. They were directed to 1817 Hardesty by
witnesses. Upon the Officers arrival, the Victim was found lying in the grass on the
south side of the residence.

Heather L. Brown W/F 11-16-1979
On 07/12/2012 at 0749 hours, Officers were dispatched to 39th and Kensington on
an ambulance call. Upon arrival, Officers discovered the listed victim deceased
inside of her vehicle. Anyone with information in regard to the homicide should

Tony Hughes B/M 07/22/1995
Occurred: 7/7/12 at 3050 Oakley
Victim was sitting on his front porch with a couple of friends when someone began shooting at them
from a red dodge charger. The victim was struck by a bullet and died. The suspect vehicle was
described as shown in the picture.

Artreze L. Dorsey B/M 09/21/1992
Officers responded to the area of 81st Street & Garfield Ave on a reported Shooting. Upon arrival,
officers found the victim lying in front of 8040 Garfield Ave. They observed the victim to be suffering
from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim later died from his injuries.

Marcus Heilderberg B/M 10-19-88
On May 19, 2012, at 1:19 a.m., Marcus Heilderberg was murdered outside the Retro Bar
at 1518 McGee. There had been a disturbance inside the bar that spilled out to the
sidewalk and street in front of the bar. Marcus was shot and later died of his injuries at a
hospital.

Andrea Shields B/F 08/07/1973
Occurred: 05/14/12, 2100 E. 19th
The victim was found behind the business at 2100 E. 19th after being contacted by a citizen who
observed smoke. The victim was found to have been set on fire. Detectives are looking for the
above vehicle in regards.
