Officer Finds, Returns Stolen E-Bike To Cancer Survivor
When someone stole the e-bike that a cancer survivor, Olivia, was using to attend her oncology appointments, Officer JP Young told her he would do everything he could to find it.
That was Mother’s Day. More than a month later, Young delivered.
Young and his partner saw a man riding an e-bike that looked spray-painted. With a glimpse of the old paint showing, Young texted Olivia, who confirmed it was her bike. The officers arrested the man, and Young returned the bike to Olivia.
Olivia has Stage 4 breast cancer and suffered a stroke two days after watching someone ride off with her bike. Friends bought her a new bike, assuming the original was gone forever, but it wasn’t assembled correctly, so she hasn’t used it. Her plan is to sell the bike that was stolen so that she can afford to have the new one repaired and be mobile again.
Young said he was always looking for Olivia’s e-bike, but even surprised himself when he found it. Olivia said Officer Young had the biggest smile on his face when he returned it.
